Role Overview
The Community Communications Designer-Manager will take ownership of the communications and social media presence of the community.

- Time Commitment: 2-3 hours per week
- Volunteer Engagement Period: Minimum of 6 months
Responsibilities
All of our volunteer roles are design-centric, which is why they are titled “Designer-Manager.”
The Community Communications Designer-Manager will be expected to:
- Set, plan and implement social media and communication campaigns and strategies to grow awareness of the community, our work and our impact
- Write and design engaging text, image and video content for social media accounts (LinkedIn and Instagram)
- Prepare community newsletters and announcements on Slack group through content development and curation
- Explore new opportunities for sharing learnings and insights from community to the greater public
- Keep website up-to-date with latest messaging, updates and content
- Coordinate with Programming and Operations Designer-Managers on joint initiatives and responsibilities
- Participate in monthly community advisory group meetings
We are open to revising these responsibilities based on the evolving needs of the community and the desires and aspirations of the volunteer.
Qualities we look for

We're seeking someone who:
- Has some experience or familiarity with communications, social media and/or email marketing (or related areas)
- Possesses visual design skills
- Is highly confident in clear written communications in English*
- Is comfortable with LinkedIn, Instagram and ConvertKit (or similar platforms)
- Is familiar with Notion, Webflow and Canva (or similar platforms)
- Is familiar with inclusion, equity and accessibility design principles
*This doesn't mean you need to be a native or fluent speaker!
